Founded by Frank Hayes in 1898, our company opened its first Boston office in 1915, representing several well-known suppliers of pumps, air compressors, and engines under the name of Hayes Pump and Machinery Company.
By the early 1950s, Hayes had emerged as the leader in the pump field in New England, concentrating on representing such quality pump manufacturers as Viking, Aurora, Dean, and Gorman-Rupp.
Under new ownership in 1980, we consolidated operations and moved into a modern 17,000-square-foot facility in Concord, Massachusetts. New England operations expanded in 1986 to include facilities in Maine and Connecticut.
In the mid-1990s, Hayes opened a new Mid-Atlantic Operations division to serve the New York/New Jersey market, and in 1995, we were one of the first pump companies in the U.S. to be awarded ISO-9002 quality standard certification. As the ‘90s came to a close, we had added a number of premier product lines to our offerings.
